We built the architecture around privacy from the start. There is no server, no account, and no way for us — or anyone else — to read your scripts.
Your script is saved in your browser’s localStorage, scoped to the extension. No server receives it. No database stores it. It cannot be accessed by any website.
When you import a Word or text file, it is read by your browser directly using the FileReader API. The file bytes never leave your device — not even to our servers.
The Chrome extension requests only one permission: tabs — the minimum needed to open a new tab. No access to your browsing history, other tabs, or any website.
About voice sync and audio: Voice sync uses your browser’s built-in Web Speech API (the same technology behind Chrome’s voice search). When active, your browser sends audio to Google’s speech recognition servers — this is a Google service, not ours. We surface a clear notice the first time you enable voice sync so you can make an informed choice. If your script is sensitive, speed-based auto-scroll requires no microphone at all.
