SyncVocal Privacy Policy

Overview

SyncVocal is a teleprompter extension that helps you present scripts with voice-synced scrolling. We prioritize your privacy and keep your data local whenever possible.

Data We Collect

• Scripts: By default, your scripts are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device. If you're signed in and click "Save to My Scripts," that specific script's text is stored on our servers (linked to your account) so you can access it from any device — nothing is uploaded unless you take that action.
• Settings: Font size, scroll speed, theme, and other preferences are stored locally in localStorage.
• Voice Data: When you enable voice sync, your browser sends audio to Google's speech recognition servers. This is handled by your browser's built-in Web Speech API, not by us. We do not have access to this data.

AI Improve Feature

When you use the AI Improve feature with Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic:

• Your script text is sent to the selected AI provider's API
• API keys are stored locally in localStorage
• We do not store or have access to your API keys or the content sent to AI providers
• Review each provider's privacy policy for details on how they handle your data

Google Slides Integration (Extension)

For the Chrome extension's Google Slides integration:

• We use the Google Slides API to fetch presentation content with your permission
• Authentication is handled through Google's OAuth
• We do not store or have access to your Google account credentials
• Presentation content is processed locally and not stored on our servers

Data Storage

Settings and API keys are always stored locally in your browser's localStorage — we never see them. Scripts are local-only by default; a script is only stored on our servers if you explicitly click "Save to My Scripts" while signed in, so you can pick it up from another device. Unsaved local data is deleted if you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension.

Third-Party Services

SyncVocal uses the following third-party services:

• Google Speech Recognition: For voice sync (via browser's Web Speech API)
• Google Gemini: For AI script improvement (when you provide an API key)
• OpenAI: For AI script improvement (when you provide an API key)
• Anthropic: For AI script improvement (when you provide an API key)
• Google Slides API: For presentation import (extension only)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only shared with the AI providers you explicitly choose when using the AI Improve feature.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, since data is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for securing your device and browser.

Your Rights

• You can delete your scripts and settings at any time by clearing your browser data or using the extension's delete options
• You can revoke Google Slides access at any time through your Google Account settings
• You can revoke API keys at any time through the respective AI provider's dashboard

Children's Privacy

SyncVocal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this policy.
