Free Online Teleprompter: No Credit Card, No Trial (2026)

The "Free" Teleprompter Problem

Most "free" teleprompters aren't actually free. They use one of these tricks:

• 7-day trial only — Free for a week, then $15/month
• Feature paywall — Basic features free, voice sync costs $15/month
• Credit card up front — "Free" but you enter card details to start
• Limited usage — Free for 5 scripts, then pay

This guide covers online teleprompters that are actually free: no trial that runs out, no credit card, and no paywall on the core features.

Want to start reading right away? SyncVocal is a free online teleprompter that scrolls as you speak. The web app needs a free account (no credit card), and the Chrome extension works without one.

Truly Free Options

1. SyncVocal: free with voice sync

What's free (web app with a free account, or the Chrome extension with no account):

• Voice sync (scrolls as you speak), no time limit, 30 languages
• Camera Mode (floating window near your webcam)
• File import (.txt, .md, .srt; .docx with Pro)
• AI script tools with your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key

What's paid: an optional Pro plan adds monthly AI credits (no API key needed) and unlimited saved scripts. You never need it to use the teleprompter.

Privacy: your script stays in your browser unless you choose to save it to an account.

2. Basic free web prompters

Simple websites that scroll text at a speed you set. They're free and need no account, and many include a mirror mode for teleprompter glass. You control the scrolling yourself, since there's no voice sync.

"Free" Plans to Read Carefully

Many teleprompter apps advertise as free but work differently once you start:

• Free trials that convert to a subscription, typically $15–20 a month
• Free tiers that limit voice scrolling, script length or recording time
• Free apps that require an account before you can read a single line

Before committing, check what the free plan actually includes, especially voice scrolling if you need it.

What to Check Before You Sign Up

Many free teleprompters ask for an account. That's fine if you know what it's used for. Before signing up, check:

• Is a credit card required? A free plan shouldn't need one.
• Where do your scripts go? In your browser, or uploaded to the service by default?
• What happens to your email? The privacy policy should say it isn't sold.
• Can you sign in with Google? It saves creating another password.

SyncVocal's free account needs no credit card, and you can sign in with Google. Scripts stay in your browser unless you choose to save one to your account, and we don't sell your data. See the privacy policy.

Recommendation

For most users, SyncVocal is the best free online teleprompter:

• Free to use, with no trial and no time limit
• No credit card; the Chrome extension needs no account at all
• Voice sync included for free
• Camera Mode for eye contact
• Scripts stay in your browser unless you save them

If you only need basic scrolling at a fixed speed, a simple web prompter works fine.

A subscription app is worth it if you specifically need team collaboration, built-in recording or cloud sync, and have the budget.
