Multilingual Teleprompter: Voice Sync in 30 Languages
SyncVocal now follows your voice in 30 languages, including Spanish, French, Japanese, Korean, Hindi and Arabic. Free, in your browser and over Google Slides.
Quick Answer
SyncVocal's voice sync now works in 30 languages. Pick your language, start talking, and the teleprompter follows your pace in Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic and 23 more. It's free, it runs in your browser, and it works right over your Google Slides speaker notes with the Chrome extension.
What changed
Until now, SyncVocal's voice sync only understood English. If you presented in any other language, the prompter couldn't follow you, and you were back to manual scrolling. That's fixed. Voice sync now listens in the language you choose and matches what you say against your script, word by word, in any of these 30 languages:
- English — US and UK
- Spanish — Spain and Mexico
- Portuguese — Brazil and Portugal
- Western Europe: French, German, Italian, Dutch
- Northern Europe: Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish
- Central and Eastern Europe: Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian
- Middle East: Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish
- South Asia: Hindi, Bengali, Tamil
- East and Southeast Asia: Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Mandarin), Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian
English, Spanish and Portuguese each come in two regional variants, so you'll see 33 options in the language menu.
How to switch languages
In the web app
- Open SyncVocal and click the gear icon to open Settings.
- Under Voice Language, choose the language you'll be speaking.
- Paste your script, press Start, and turn on voice sync with the microphone button.
Your choice is remembered, so you only set it once.
In the Chrome extension (Google Slides)
- Open your deck in Google Slides and click the SyncVocal icon in your toolbar.
- In the floating prompter, pick your language from the menu next to the Voice button.
- Turn on voice. SyncVocal reads your speaker notes, scrolls as you talk, and advances your slides for you.
Presenting Google Slides in your own language
This is the part we're most excited about. Plenty of teleprompters can follow your voice, but very few sit on top of Google Slides and read your speaker notes. Now that combination works in 30 languages: a sales team in São Paulo, a teacher in Seoul, or a founder pitching in Madrid can present straight from their deck, in their own language, without touching the keyboard.
Japanese, Chinese and Thai: languages without spaces
Most teleprompters that follow your voice find their place by matching words. That's easy in English, where spaces separate words. Japanese, Chinese and Thai don't put spaces between words, so a naive teleprompter sees a whole sentence as one giant "word" and loses track of you.
SyncVocal splits scripts in these languages into real words using your browser's built-in language tools, so it can match your speech phrase by phrase, just as it does in English.
Tips for presenting in another language
- Pick the variant that matches how you speak. English (UK) and English (US), Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Mexico), and Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal) are listed separately. Choosing the closest match to your accent improves recognition.
- Write your script the way it's normally written. In Japanese, for example, speech recognition usually outputs everyday kanji and kana. A script written in unusual spellings can be harder to match.
- One language at a time. Voice sync listens for the language you've selected. If you switch languages mid-presentation, switch the setting too — mixing two languages inside one sentence won't track reliably.
- Non-native speaker? Voice sync waits for you. Pause, slow down, or repeat a line, and the prompter stays where you are instead of racing ahead at a fixed speed.
Also new: your scripts on every device
You can now save a script to your SyncVocal account with Save to My Scripts. Sign in on another computer and it's waiting for you, along with a Continue where you left off prompt. Scripts you don't save stay only in your browser, as before. Free accounts keep up to 5 saved scripts.
Frequently asked questions
Is voice sync free in every language?
Yes. Voice sync is free in all 30 languages, with no credit card required.
Which browsers work best?
Chrome and Edge give the most consistent results. Voice sync uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, so accuracy — and which languages are available — can vary by browser.
Does it work offline?
No. Your browser's speech recognition sends audio to its provider (Google, in Chrome) to turn it into text. Your script itself stays in your browser unless you choose to save it to your account.
My language isn't on the list. Can you add it?
Probably. Tell us which one at hello@syncvocal.com — we add languages based on requests.
